Happy Halloween!!

From Hyrule Castle... or Safeway, I am wishing you a Happy Halloween!

It seems you guys have spoken and I've decided to update Gaia's Sennin. We actually had a tie for this, 3 for Gaia's Sennin and 3 for Heir of Slytherin. In the end I decided to go with Gaia's Sennin simply because it's gone longer without an update. My next fanfic to be updated after Gaia's Sennin will be Heir of Slytherin.

On a side note, I have finally finished my original story. I managed to cut down quite a bit of excess, tearing away the filler garbage and repeated phrases to give only the best and highest quality comedy available. Yes, it is a comedy, a romantic humor to be exact. Think Road Trip and American Pie meets Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and you have an approximation of the type of comedy you'll find in my story. It tops out at 17 chapters and exactly 83,579 words; decent length for a novel.

Now I'm going to have it proof read by my step mother for Syntax and grammar. She has a Major in English, so her knowledge of the language kicks mine out of the water. After that, it's off to a Literary Agent(s) and hopefully to a publishing company.

Where I am currently, where I am going.

Yo fanfic lovers and avid readers. This is just your friendly neighborhood Spider... I mean, your friendly internet fanfiction author coming at you with an update of this blog so you know that I am alive and can see where I am.

To start, my original novel is almost finished. I've actually had to cut out 3 whole chapters from this story as it already hit the 87,000+ word mark after reaching chapter 17, and I suspect that when I add the last scene to chapter 17 it will reach 90,000 words. Which is fine by me. Honestly, the 3 other chapters (which equal about 20,000+ words on their own) that I wrote would work better in the next novel of this series. I suspect that the novel will be finished either sometime tomorrow, or by the end of this week.

I have not started writing the next chapter for any of my fanfics yet; mainly because I do not know which fanfic to write for. I've got a couple of ideas for almost every story, but the ones I am thinking about the most are Gaia's Sennin and Heir of Slytherin. They're currently the stories I have the most ideas for my next chapter on. I just have to figure out which fanfic I want to write for.

If any of you have a preference in story let me know. It may or may not affect which story I write for, but it can't hurt your chances.

All that being said, I'm going to try and write in this blog a little more often. I haven't been updating as often as I feel I should. I'm thinking about posting writing tips for people who either want to be a fanfiction writer and don't know where to start, or are already writing fanfiction but would like some useful advice to help them improve. Would you guys like it if I did that?

Shifts in Life

A few people have expressed some displeasure at my use of side arcs and movies for my more recent chapters.

I can understand why they would not like that, since the side arcs really don't have much to do with the main story. At the same time, I've never been the type to leave something out if I felt it was important. And Naruto's development as a character is very important.

One of the things that needs to be understood is that it's the arcs themselves that is important, but how Naruto is developing. These chapters are there in order to show Naruto growing into himself. I suppose you could consider them the 'coming of age' arcs. They're all about character development as opposed to story plot.

If this does not please you, well, there is very little I can do about that. You can either grin and bare it, or you can stop reading.

With that being said, since I am sure some of you are curious to know where I am going with these arcs, I will give you a spoiler.

I am sure some of you have noticed Naruto's growing reluctance with women from the Cursed Warrior arc. This is due to his growing concerns over his immortality. After all, what's the point of falling in love and getting married if the woman you are with is just going to die several decades later? One of the reasons for having these 'training period' arcs is to help Naruto get over himself and allow girls like Yugito and Tenten into his life without angsting over his immortality like a certain blond-haired, blue-eyed cynic in one of my other stories.

There will be three arcs to this 'training period'. The Cursed Warrior's arc, The Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom, and Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow. These three arcs have been put here mainly so that Naruto's character can be further developed in the direction I want him to go.

Devil Ninja

I'm posting today to answer some questions that have been asked about my most recent fanfic, Devil Ninja. A good deal of people had very similar questions, so most of them will be easy to answer.

Will Naruto be getting a harem?

A lot of people have asked me about 'The Harem', some have even gone so far as to assume this fanfic would be a harem and have simply been making suggestions.

Before anyone gets too gung ho about The Harem, all of you should know that there is a possibility this story WILL NOT be a harem. To be perfectly honest, I have no clue if I plan on going The Harem route, or sticking with Naruto/Rias. In the end, whether this story remains a single pairing or becomes a harem will be dependent on the story itself. If The Plot cannot progress without a harem, then it will become one. If having a harem will ruin my story, then I will not have one.

What's going on with Naruto's chakra?

So, this was something that bugged people when I posted my first chapter. Apparently, Naruto was far too weak for their taste because he didn't have chakra.

For those who did not get what I did from chapter 1, I took Naruto's chakra away via destroying his chakra coils. I won't tell you how that happened, though you can assume it happened as a result of Naruto sacrificing himself for his friends at the climax to the 4th Great Ninja War.

I did this so that Naruto would be at the same level as the enemies he will face at this stage in the story. If I had left him at the same level of power that his canon counterpart is, he would have faced no challenge with anyone until Kokabiel. I dislike it when my characters don't have some kind of challenge, so I deliberately weakened him in order to ensure he was not too strong. If I left Naruto as he was, he would have pawned everyone he came across and that would have made a very boring story.

What happened to Naruto?

Some people have wondered what happened to Naruto in this story. How did he get to the DxD world? Why were his chakra coils destroyed? I will eventually answer those questions, but I would like to leave it as a mystery for now. As the story progresses, I will give more and more hints about what happened until everyone eventually understands.

Though I hope a few of you will figure out what happened to Naruto before then. I left quite a few hints in my first chapter, and it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what went down if you followed the Naruto manga up to this point.

Of course, if you only watch the anime you may be lost, but such is life.

Where the hell is Kurama?

People have been wondering about how favorite nine-tailed furball. I won't tell you what's up with Kurama yet, but I will tell you eventually. You'll just have to be patient until then.

Those were the most generic questions I've been asked in reviews so far. The rest are pretty much along the lines of asking for specifics, which I don't actually have and wouldn't give if I did. I don't want to ruin the story by giving people spoilers. That being said, I hope this went at least a little way towards satisfying some of you.

Alive and Kicking

Yo! I figured I would let you guys know that I am still alive and writing. I've been kind of busy lately with my job search. I had several interviews and have applied for a number of different jobs, so I haven't been able to do much blogging lately. That being said, I am at least taking time to write my stories.

Just today I actually posted a new story. Well, new to you. I've actually had it in my hard drive since, maybe, 6 months ago. It's more or less been gathering cyberdust. I decided that since I am still writing for my Shifts in Life chapter 43 (which is nearly done by the way) I would post this so you guys would have something to read.

I don't have much else to say right now. So I'll leave you guys here.

So I've decided to write for Shifts in Life for my next update. I haven't touched it in a while, so I'm gonna read my last chapter to see where I am and then get started.

On another note, have you guys been reading about the latest events here in the US? Probably not if you're from another country, but seriously, there is so much bad shit going down that I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up turning into a third world country at some point. The federal government has been closed for, I think... a week now? And the only agreement President O and the other loonies running this show have come to is that they need to continue talking...

Talking! As if that would solve our problems or the fact that there are probably somewhere around a couple hundred thousand, if not over a million federal workers who have a home and children and aren't getting paid.

I don't know what's going on with this country, but I'm beginning to suspect it's a sinking ship.

Ashikabi Shinobi CH 28

So, this won't be so much a Q&A as it will be me just making some general comments. There were not a lot of people who actually asked a specific question this time, making a Q&A a tad difficult.

To start, a good number of people have mentioned how cold Naruto was towards Haruka. One of the things that I've made a point of inferring in my story is that Naruto is not only fairly cynical when it comes to life and humanity in general, but he's also pretty apathetic towards their plight. He has made it a point to involve himself with humanity as little as possible and goes out of his way to avoid any kind of human contact that does not involve one night stands. This means he really doesn't care about Haruka or his plight enough to help him.

Another factor you must look at is that Naruto decided in a previous chapter to be a good Ashikabi. In his mind, an Ashikabi is sort of like a Hokage in that they look after those who are under them. In this case, Kusano, Homura, Matsu, Musubu and Tsukiumi are his Sekirei, the ones he is tasked with looking after and caring for. Haruka and Kuno are not his Sekirei, therefore he has no obligation to help them.

What's more, Naruto has very little in the way of morals, so he isn't just going to help someone because it's 'the right thing to do'. He doesn't care about doing the right thing. Right and wrong no longer hold any meaning for him.

The truth of the matter is Naruto could help them escape. Hell, he could defeat the entire Disciplinary Squad on his own. He just doesn't want to because he doesn't care. It doesn't matter to him if Haruka and Kuno are forced to fight in the Sekirei Plan or if one of them are killed. They mean nothing to him. Why should he go out of his way to help two people who he feels absolutely nothing for?

Someone also mentioned Uzume and how Naruto helped her. I would like to state that Naruto also knows Uzume on a more personal level. He also benefited from helping her: he learned more about Higa, who had already tried subverting him to his cause. He had taken away one of Higa's pawns (Uzume), weakening his position and ability to operate covertly. And he had taken several of Higa's Sekirei out of the game. If he helped Haruka, he might be able to defeat the Disciplinary Squad, but that might not benefit him because he has no way of predicting what Minaka will do in the event of their defeat.

Now this is an answer to a direct question. DarkPirateKing69 asked me about my A/N where I mentioned that this was not all I had originally intended to write for this chapter. What I meant when I said 'this chapter was going to be longer' was that I had originally planned on writing more, but because I had already gone over 2 weeks without updating and couldn't think of how to write the rest of this chapter, decided to end it there and write the rest later on when I have a better idea of how I want to write the rest.

Lastly, some people have mentioned on this blog that they feel I have given up on a story because it hasn't been update in months.

To start, the only story that has not been updated in months, and please note the plural, is Birth of the New Demon King. The others have all been updated within or near the last two months, with Shifts in Life being the one that has gone the longest without an update. Considering there are fanfic authors out there who will not even update one story for 2-12 months, I like to think I have a pretty decent update time. It's also only been recently that I have stopped updating stories once a week, and that is simply due to a combination of me trying to find a new job and focusing on my original story, which I want to get published soon.

And while it is true that Harry Potter has been updated more than any other, that is simply because I have more ideas for Harry Potter than I do any other story. I can only write what my muse tells me to write. If you force yourself to write for a story, the chapter written will turn out horribly.

You can't force these things. Writing is as much of an artform as painting is; it requires patience, motivation and a clear image of what you want to write in your mind. If you don't have these things, you won't write a good story.

I want it known now that none of my stories are being abandoned. If they were, I would have posted an A/N saying that the story is being abandoned, much like Gavedin did with many of his recently. As I have not, you can take that to mean all of my stories are still going to be continued.

On a side note, I am thinking of updating either Shifts in Life or Gaia's Sennin. I have not decided yet.

Postponed a bit longer

So, I'm still writing my chapter for Ashikabi no Shinobi. I'm almost finished, but am having trouble getting the end right. It's going to take a bit more time than I thought, which is why there is no post this Friday. I'm hoping to have it out by this weekend. Since it's nearly finished, I should be able to do that. I just need to get the last thousand or so words written, then proof read it at least once to make sure it's not complete trash. I do apologize for not having this out sooner, but, you know how it is, sometimes life just gets in the way.

I'm back

Yes, you heard right readers. I am back from my sojourn to Mississippi where I got to see my cousin get married to this gorgeous girl he had apparently been dating on and off since high school. It was a very lovely wedding by the way.

They had it in a warehouse. As in, an actual, honest to god warehouse.

Awesome right?

Anyways, not much is going on here. I'm trying to get back into the groove of things, but it's difficult. Writing after not writing for so long is harder than I thought it would be. Still, I should have something for you guys by this Friday. I hope. I guess we'll just have to see how things go.
